MANILA, Philippines — Showbiz reporters Ahwel Paz and DJ Jhai Ho shared how to properly deliver showbiz news.
At the recent press conference of their new Teleradyo Serbisyo show “Showbiz Sidelines,” Jhai Ho said sticking to facts should be prioritized in every report.
“For me, malaking bagay talaga na hindi ka laging nagmamadali na magpaputok ng isang issue. Mas okay na kumpleto muna ‘yung facts mo bago mo siya i-deliver para maging credible ka roon sa mga listeners mo,” he said.
Ahwel added that each information should be verified first.
“Ang tendency natin kapag nakita natin ‘yung headlines ta’s misleading, naniniwala na agad tayo without even reading kung ano ‘yung content para lang makakuha ng viewers and subscribers,” he said.
“Kailangan verified, we confirm facts, we have the power and authority to correct it on air, gagawin natin ‘yun. Kunin po natin ‘yung pinaka-resource person to clarify,” he added.
Getting both sides of the story should be a concern, Jhai Ho added.
“Laging nagri-research, laging nagtatanong, at hindi lang naman kami ang totally last say. Kahit kami ‘yung nakakuha ng balita, mayroon kaming executive producer to check, ‘Huwag ‘to masyadong sensitive ‘to. Pwedeng tanungin din natin ‘yung kabilang side para hindi lang ‘yung side ng isa’… Gusto namin sa programa balanseng-balanse kami,” the anchor said.
“Magbibigay kami ng opinyon namin or facts na mayroon kaming baon pero as much as possible, two sides of the story lagi, hindi pwedeng one-sided lang kami,” he added.
Airing Mondays to Fridays at 9:00 p.m. via Radyo 630 and Teleradyo Serbisyo on TV, “Showbiz Sidelines” delivers a mix of “showbiz chika” and “showbiz kita.”
“Para magkaroon ng ibang flavor ‘yung programa, sinamahan natin ng side hustles. Very interesting na malaman [ng viewers] na ‘yung mga hinahangaan nilang mga artista ay meron din silang pinagkakaabalahan sa likod ng camera,” Ahwel said.
Jhai Ho also added that his working relationship with Ahwel has a strong foundation as they have worked together in the past.
“Maganda ‘yung naging foundation namin. One thing na talagang gustong gusto ko is before mag-start ‘yung programa, we make sure ni Papa Ahwel na mag-usap na dapat masaya lang, dapat GV [good vibes] lang tayo, kung may hindi tayo bet, sabihin natin agad sa isa’t isa,” he explained.
Besides “Showbiz Sidelines,” viewers can tune in to Radyo 630 and Teleradyo Serbisyo to start their day so they can catch the latest news and watch other relevant and engaging programs such as “Radyo 630 Balita” anchored by Sherrie Ann Torres and Robert Mano; “Gising Pilipinas” and “Teleradyo Serbisyo Balita” with Alvin Elchico and Doris Bigornia; “Kabayan” anchored by Noli de Castro; “Balitapatan” with Peter Musngi and Rica Lazo; “Tatak: Serbisyo” anchored by Winnie Cordero; and “Headline Ngayon” anchored by Jonathan Magistrado.
