Three students died while two others were injured after they were struck by lightning in Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bayog, the five victims, all cousins, went to the mountain reportedly to get banana that they could sell.
They were supposed to use the money they would earn from the bananas to pay for the fees for their school intramurals.
Three of the five were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. One was 13 years old while the other two were 16 years old.
The other two, 15 years old and 20 years old, were transferred to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center in Pagadian City, one of whom had to undergo surgery due to severe burns. —GMA Regional TV
