Seven barangays in Libon, Albay, remain isolated due to several landslides caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

Government responders finally reached one of the isolated barangays on Saturday, and the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed aid to 1,000 families, John Consulta said in an exclusive report on ”24 Oras Weekend.”

During their trip to Barangay Pantao, Consulta said several roads sustained damage because of a landslide.

Aerial footage also revealed several landslides in Libon, which left locals stranded and without food supplies since Tuesday.

“Marami po kasing landslide, so hindi po mapasok pa so sabi ng MGB, gumagalaw pa ang mga lupa kaya di pa pwede ang clearing operation kasi baka malagay sa alangin ang mga rescue,” Libon, Albay Mayor Wilfredo Maronilla.

(There were a lot of landslides, and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau said they are still occurring, so we cannot conduct clearing operations because it may endanger the lives of our rescue team.)

GMA Integrated News, GMA Kapuso Foundation, and the military reached Barangay Pantao using the presidential helicopter and a Black Hawk helicopter from the Philippine Air Force.

The residents also helped with unloading and distributing the relief goods.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyo sa GMA na napasok ninyo at nadalhan niyo ng mga food packs. isolated talaga itong mga barangay na ito,” Maronilla said.

(Thank you, GMA, for bringing food packs to us. These barangays are really isolated.)

“Ginagawa natin yung yung agarang tulong na para dun sa nasalanta ng bagyo kung saan talagang higit na kinakailangan yung pang basic na pangangailangan,” said Captain Michelle Estares of the Philippine Army.

(We are providing immediate aid to those affected by the tropical cyclone where the most basic needs are really needed.)

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa lahat ng donors and partners natin, kasi dahil sa mga pinaabot nilang tulong, finally naabot na natin ang Libon sa Albay,” said Rikki Escudero-Catibog, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GMA Kapuso Foundation.

(We are thankful to our donors and partners. Because of their aid, we finally reached Libon, Albay.)

The GMA Kapuso Foundation will also deliver 100 kilos of pet food to the Tabaco Animal Pet Shelter. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA Integrated News
