BUSINESSMAN and former top-ranking Las Piñas City District 2 councilor Carlo Aguilar filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for mayor on Monday, under the banner of the Nacionalista Party (NP), the political party led by his uncle, former Senate president Manny Villar.
Aguilar, who served as the No. 1 councilor of Las Piñas for three consecutive terms from 2010 to 2019, pledged to bring back what he calls the “glory days” of the city through fresh and proactive leadership.
He is positioning himself as the candidate who will reinvigorate Las Piñas. His mayoral campaign focuses on reversing what he claimed as the neglect of recent years and returning the city to its status as one of the fastest-rising urban centers in Metro Manila.

Speaking before a crowd of supporters, Aguilar outlined his key priorities if elected mayor — flood control, waste management, traffic congestion, accessible health care, and economic livelihood for residents.
“We are at a crucial time where we need effective and decisive leadership to tackle the issues facing Las Piñas,” Aguilar said. “My goal is to improve the quality of life for every resident. One of my priorities will be maximizing the city’s revenue through improved tax collection, which will be channeled directly into providing high-quality social services.”
Aguilar also emphasized his commitment to good governance, vowing to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.
“Every peso must benefit the people,” he declared, outlining a platform based on fiscal responsibility and public trust.
