Quezon City first district Rep. Juan Carlos Atayde is seeking a fresh mandate from his constituents after filing his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Tuesday at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in San Juan City.
Atayde is a member of the Nacionalista Party, which is allied with the Marcos administration, making him part of the ‘Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ (Alliance for a New Philippines) coalition. He aims to continue his legislative work.
“We want to follow through on the anti-flooding projects that we have in the pipeline, as well as continue crafting and passing legislation that will benefit the families and residents of our district,” he said.
During his first term, Atayde championed notable legislations, including the Eddie Garcia Law, the Internet Transactions Act, the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act, and the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers Act.
Atayde is also allied with incumbent Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, who also filed their own COCs for re-election. The 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) are scheduled on May 12, 2025.
