QUEZON City 1st District Rep. Juan Carlos Atayde inaugurated Aksyon Agad, Quezon City’s first free dialysis center, at District 1 Mini City Hall in Barangay Bahay Toro.
Atayde said kidney disease is a major public health issue in the country with an average of 35,000 Filipinos undergoing dialysis annually.
“We have someone we know, a family member, a friend, or a neighbor that is experiencing kidney problems. We are just getting started, We will have more meaningful programs and projects that we will provide here in District 1,” he added.
Atayde thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and House Speaker Martin Romualdez for supporting the project.
“With the help of the national government of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Speaker Martin Romualdez, funds were allocated not just for District 1 but also for the entire Quezon City, so definitely this will be running all throughout the year,” he said.
Atayde added the goal is to open at least three more Aksyon Agad dialysis centers in his district to help more kidney patients.
“Free dialysis is important for our countrymen who need this. This gives them chance to live longer and healthier without worrying about the high cost of treatment,” he said.
