As the first round of NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball nears its end, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and the Emilio Aguinaldo College hope to build on their recent wins to continue their respective runs.
The Blazers (6-1) are hoping to extend their winning streak to three as they take on Arellano University (2-6) on Friday noon at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Benilde has to be careful, however, going against a Chiefs squad who are not easily backing down, and head coach Charles Tiu is aware of this.
The Blazers’ recent overtime win against San Sebastian College-Recoletos almost slipped away and Tiu described the victory as probably the “worst” in his life.
“If we play like this, Arellano would beat us easily,” he added.
Meanwhile, Emilio Aguinaldo College (3-4) will go against Jose Rizal University (2-5) at 2:30 p.m.
The Generals are coming off a win against Lyceum of the Philippines University, while the Heavy Bombers will try to bounce back after losing to Mapua University.
EAC head coach Jerson Cabiltes is also aware of the unpredictability of Season 100 and said all games are equally important.
“Unpredictable season so hindi mo masasabi kung sinong mananalo nanalo. Against JRU, we need to be ready kasi a win will bring you up, a loss will bring you down. Every game is vital so we’re gonna treat it as a playoff game, each and every game,” said Cabiltes.
