Benson Bocboc is the new head coach of the UP women’s volleyball team.
The UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development announced his appointment on Friday.
Bocboc was part of De La Salle University and F2 Logistics’ coaching staff from 2016 to 2024 and was also an interim coach for the Cargo Movers in the Open and Reinforced Conferences of the Premier Volleyball League in 2022.
Aside from Bocboc, Carlo Cabatingan was also named as the new head coach of the men’s team, replacing Vip Isada.
Oliver Almadro, meanwhile, will remain as the program director.
“Nagkaroon tayo ng opportunity to bring together two champion coaches, and we just took advantage of it. With Coach Boc on the bench, Coach O overseeing lahat-lahat, and siyempre, the continued support from Boss Frank [Lao], we’re looking forward to the bright future ng UP volleyball,” UP OASD director Bo Perasol said while referring to Frank Lao of main backer Strong Group Athletics.
UP ended at the bottom of the standings in the women’s volleyball tournament last UAAP season with a 1-13 record.
