WHAT seemed to be just a dream to some 200 Caloocan City families came true after the local government granted them certificates of ownership over the lands where their homes were built.
Mayor Dave Gonzalo Malapitan said on Wednesday that it was part of his administration’s housing and relocation programs aimed to provide shelters to residents, especially those living in danger zones in the city.
Malapitan personally handed the Certificate of Entitlement for Lot Allocation (CELA) to the 200 family beneficiaries, which was made possible through the efforts of the city’s Housing and Relocation Office during a simple ceremony at the City Hall.
The beneficiaries are long-time residents of Sitio Gitna, Barangay 166 and Block 105, Camarin, Barangay 174.
Congratulating the lucky families, the city chief executive reminded them to take care of the land for the use of their children and grandchildren.
He told The Manila Times that his administration had started with its socialized housing programs to benefit qualified residents, particularly those in the poor sector.
“We can assure our constituents that more beneficiaries will have their own homes before the year ends,” said the son of former mayor and now District 1 Rep. Oscar Malapitan.
