THE Department of Tourism (DoT) welcomed the inclusion of two of the country’s famed beaches, Boracay and Cebu, in Agoda’s list of the 10 most searched beach getaways in Southeast Asia.
Boracay clinched the 9th spot, and Cebu the 10th, underscoring “the growing global recognition of the country’s stunning beaches,” Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said in a statement on Thursday.
Released in celebration of International Beach Day, the rankings are based on search data for September and October, Frasco added.

“This recognition affirms the growing love for the Philippines and the distinct charm of its beaches — where natural wonders and warm Filipino hospitality make every visit unforgettable,” she said.
The Agoda rankings, issued earlier this month in honor of International Beach Day, show “a diverse array of beach destinations that cater to various preferences, from serene retreats to vibrant beach parties.”
The other eight beach locations are Bali, Indonesia; Okinawa, Japan; Da Nang, Vietnam; Pattaya, Thailand; Phuket, Thailand; Nha Trang, Vietnam; Jeju, South Korea; and Penang, Malaysia.
Agoda, an internationally recognized online travel platform, provides a diverse range of accommodations, flights, and services.
