THE Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and the United Filipinos in Korea (UFilKor) has teamed up in preparing youth leaders from both countries to take part in immersion programs.

Both parties signed an agreement on Monday at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, led by CFO secretary Romeo “Leo” Arugay, and UFilKor chief Mercy Hachero, as well as Philippine ambassador to South Korea Therese Dizon-de Vega, and Consul General Romulo Victor Israel Jr.

Youth Leaders from the Diaspora (YouLead) Program are set to begin on Sunday, October 20, with 29 participants, the activity that coincides with the celebration of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and South Korea.

“This agreement represents a new chapter in the ongoing implementation of the YouLead Program that aims to help young Filipinos abroad rediscover their cultural roots,” the CFO said in a statement.

Originally known as the Lakbay-Aral program in 1983, the program has educational lectures, guided tours, and cultural interactions in appreciating Philippine history and culture, and attracted participants from the United States, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and Qatar.
