MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a Chinese man on Tuesday in Pasay City for allegedly kidnapping seven Vietnamese nationals.
Zhao Xing was apprehended during an anti-human trafficking operation conducted by the National Capital Region Police Office in Barangay 86.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia said the operation was launched after a concerned citizen reported the exploitation of several Vietnamese women.
These women were allegedly forced into prostitution both online and face-to-face by the suspect, who catered to employees of Philippine offshore gaming operators.
The victims were rescued during the operation.
Zhao Xing is being held on charges of violating Republic Act 10364, also known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
The NCRPO said the operation was implemented in coordination with the Pasay City Social Welfare and Development Department, Department of Justice’s Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking and the Southern Police District-Women and Children Protection Center.
