Eleven fuel tankers loaded with liquid petroleum products arrived in the Bicol region late on Monday afternoon, October 28.
Liezl Sapinoso Macatangay of the Philippine Information Agency Bicol said that the Department of Energy’s (DOE) fuel caravan initiative, bearing the message “Wag Mabahala, Fuel Caravan Breaks Through!” serves as an assurance that the government is responding swiftly and strategically to complaints from Bicolanos regarding the shortage of LPG and petroleum products.
The 11 tankers are each loaded with approximately 20,000 liters of liquefied petroleum products, while an additional seven tankers contain 180 pieces of 11-kilogram LPG cylinders each.
She stated that the delivery replenishes LPG supplies to support emergency operations and economic activities in the Bicol region.
“This also ensures that emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and rescue trucks, have the necessary fuel to operate for up to 400 ambulances, significantly enhancing the capacity of emergency services to respond to urgent needs,” she added.
The DOE was assisted by personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) in facilitating the fuel caravan and managing traffic along flooded and congested areas of Maharlika Highway in the Bicol region.
