The Department of Health (DOH) reported late Friday that it will provide free medical consultations and psychological first aid to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents arriving from the heightened conflict in Lebanon.

“DOH recognizes the need to support both physical and mental health needs of the OFWs as they lived in a state of constant fear amid the conflict between Hezbollah and Israeli Defense Forces,” the Health Department said.

Moreover, DOH hospitals are also set to accommodate the OFWs free-of-charge for admission and follow-up consultations.

On Thursday, 45 OFWs from Lebanon arrived at NAIA Terminal 1 through the government’s voluntary repatriation program.

Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, alongside Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) Director Bernadett Velasco and the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), led the post-arrival assistance and assured support to the OFWs.
