The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Saturday said 21 national roads were still closed to traffic following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine this week.
The 21 national road sections are located in these areas:
- Three in the Cordillera Administrative Region
- One in Region II
- One in Region III
- Five in Region IV-A
- One in Region IV-B
- Nine in Region V
- One in Region VII
The roads are impassable “due to flooding, series of soil collapse, fallen trees, rock collapse, landslide, mud and debris flow, fallen utility posts, collapsed road, mud slide, collapsed/washed out bridge, collapsed pavement, rock slide, and road slip,” according to the DPWH.
Three national bridges are also not passable to vehicles: one in Region II, one in Region IV-A, and one in Region V due to flooding and a collapsed bridge.
Nineteen national road sections have limited access:
- One in CAR
- One in Region II
- One in Region III
- Three in Region IV-A
- One in Region IV-B
- 12 in Region V
The limited access to traffic was “due to flooding, washed-out detour road, scoured RCPC and washed-out surfacing materials, soil erosion, collapsed detour road, fallen trees, and road collapse,” according to the DPWH.
The DPWH said all national roads and bridges in other affected regions are passable to all types of vehicles. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
