The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) unveiled a comprehensive job blueprint to transform the wholesale and retail trade sector in the Philippines.
The DTI, in partnership with the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) and the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP), developed the blueprint to bridge the gap between technological advancements and economic opportunities.
DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said this is a significant moment for the industry. “By uniting the DTI, PRA and SCMAP, we’re charting a new course for collaborative development,” she said.
The blueprint is expected to benefit over 10 million Filipinos within the sector, which contributes significantly to the national economy. To ensure its effectiveness, the DTI conducted focus group discussions and guided surveys involving a diverse range of stakeholders.
Participants addressed key industry issues such as workforce development, digital transformation, supply chain optimization and the regulatory landscape.
The DTI said it remains committed to collaborating with wholesalers, retailers and public sector stakeholders to ensure that the job blueprint effectively addresses the challenges and opportunities in the industry.
