Local filmmakers are representing the Philippines on the international stage once again with their participation in the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM) in South Korea.
Director Don Josephus Raphael Elbahan’s Hum was screened at the Asian Project Market Showcase last Oct. 5, while filmmakers Patti Lapus and Noah del Rosario will be part of the Busan Asian Film School (AFiS) Project Pitching on Oct. 7.
Meanwhile, filmmakers Geia De Vera, Jethro Jamon, John Daryl A. Libongco, and Kyle Jumayne Francisco will be attending the 2024 Chanel x BIFF: Asian Film Academy, while Catsi Catalan, Danzen Katanyag, Jane Gonzales, Rea Robles, John Bryan Diamante, and Xyz Dumabok will take part in the ACFM: Producer Hub.
About 47 independent filmmakers will also be attending Platform BUSAN, which consists of master classes, seminars, and showcases about film. The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) also signed a partnership agreement with AFiS during the AFiS x FDCP MOU Ceremony last Oct. 5, which served as an opportunity for Filipino and Korean film students to learn from each other.
The 29th BIFF will run until Oct. 11, while the ACFM will run until Oct. 8 in Busan, South Korea.
