THE Ang Bumbero Party-list (ABP), a group advocating for the rights and welfare of firefighters in the Philippines, filed on Friday its certificate of candidacy (CoC) for the 2025 midterm elections.
During the filing of its CoC, about 500 leaders and members from various alliances, multisectoral and nongovernmental organizations marched to Quirino Grandstand to show their support to the ABP.
Aside from advocating for the rights and welfare of firefighters in the Philippines, the ABP also seeks to address the concerns and challenges faced by firefighters nationwide.
According to Rodolfo “RJ” Villena Jr., the principal convener of the movement, the ABP aims to push for legislation that improves the working conditions, safety, and benefits of firefighters, while strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response services across the country.
Villena said that by securing a seat in Congress, the ABP expects to become the voice of the firefighting community, ensuring that their contributions to public safety are recognized and their needs are prioritized.
“Their platform emphasizes modernizing firefighting equipment, providing adequate training, and offering financial and health support to firefighters and their families,” said Villena.
