President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday highlighted how Filipinos love Korean culture, particularly its food.

During the Philippines-Korea Business Forum, Marcos said the deep connection between the Philippines and South Korea spans not just in trade and commerce, but even in culture and friendship.

”I am sure, with Korean restaurants sprouting out around the Philippines, Filipinos have—at least once—shared stories and have laughed over some Kimchi, some Samgyeopsal with friends and with family,” Marcos said.

”And of course, the countless hours that we have spent binge-watching our favorite Korean dramas and listening to K-pop,” he added. ”This highlights how the Filipinos love Koreans and your culture.”

Meanwhile, Marcos also said Koreans ”love everything that is Filipino” as he cited the more than one million Korean nationals coming to the Philippines.

Marcos earlier welcomed South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol at the Palace wherein they elevated their ties to strategic partnership.

The Philippine President had said the two countries have a robust partnership in various areas of cooperation, including defense and security, maritime cooperation, trade, development, and people-to-people exchanges.

Several deals were also signed during the South Korean leader’s state visit. —RF, GMA Integrated News
