Media trust scores have changed, according to the most recent PAHAYAG 2024 Third Quarter survey, which was carried out by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc. from Sept. 15 to Sept. 19.

The most dependable TV news source is still GMA-7, despite a decline in ratings from 53 percent to 49 percent in the preceding quarter. In second place, ABS-CBN Online maintains a steady 42 percent, while TV5/Interaksyon had a decline from 41 percent to 37 percvent. Less than 20 percent of Filipinos express faith in SMNI and Eagle News, while PTV4, UNTV, and Net25 continued to see persistent declines in their trust scores with fewer than 2 in 10 Filipinos trusting these outlets.

Notwithstanding variations, the Philippine Daily Inquirer (42 percent) and Philippine Star (40 percent) hold the top spots in print media. The Manila Bulletin’s trust rating fell to 39 percent, which was its lowest point. The Manila Times is ranked fourth.

Manila Standard and Sunstar Philippines are tied for fifth, both showing variable trust levels. Businessworld experienced an overall decline in trust, driven by downtrends across most regions except Northern and Central Luzon.

For radio, Bombo Radyo (32 percent), DZRH (31 percent), and DZBB (31 percent) hit their lowest trust ratings in the past five quarters. Radyo Pilipinas also saw a decline, with 25 percent, while DWPM 630 (formerly DZMM) remained stable at 27 percent. RMN continues to be the least trusted station, with 21 percent.

Newer platforms like Newswatch Plus (formerly CNN Philippines) have trust levels comparable to leading radio stations, while Insider PH is trusted by 20 percent of Filipino voters. FYT Media and Bilyonaryo News remain unfamiliar to about 40 percent of respondents.

The PAHAYAG 2024 Third Quarter survey is an independent and non-commissioned study conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia, Inc., based on 1,500 respondents randomly drawn from PureSpectrum’s market research panel of registered Filipino voters.
