KAWIT Island, Cebu—The Gokongwei Group’s homegrown NUSTAR Resort and Casino is set to become Cebu’s largest hotel complex by 2027.
The integrated resort, the first and only of its kind in the Visayas and Mindanao, will feature nearly 1,000 hotel rooms across three hotels upon completion.
It has quickly established itself as a premier destination for events and entertainment since its opening in May 2022.
The resort offers a range of luxury amenities, including the Fili Hotel NUSTAR Cebu, the country’s first authentic Filipino 5-star hotel. The hotel showcases Filipino craftsmanship and art, with pieces by renowned artists like Jef Albea, Lao Lianben and Vito Selma.
NUSTAR Resort general manager for hotels Roel Constantino said that once completed, the complex would have close to 1,000 rooms, making it the largest in Cebu.
“So the intention is, you know, it aligns very well with the company’s vision to be able to provide the best hospitality options across different travel segments,” Constantino said.
He said that while Fili Hotel NUSTAR Cebu with 379 rooms is already operational with “above industry occupancy,” NUSTAR Hotel, dubbed as an “ultra luxury”, is set to hold its soft opening by the end of the year.
The Grand Summit Hotel, a new addition to the complex, will blend local culture, technology and modern travel trends, offering a unique experience for guests once it opens in early 2027.
Strategically located on Kawit Island, NUSTAR offers stunning sea views and easy access to Cebu’s South Road Properties. The resort’s 35-meter private dock provides convenient water transfers.
NUSTAR’s diverse culinary offerings include Italian steakhouse Il Primo, Filipino casual dining restaurant Fina, 24/7 Southeast Asian restaurant Xin Tian Di, Axis Entertainment and Sports Bar and the first Mott 32 in the Philippines.
The Mall | NUSTAR Cebu, the resort’s luxury shopping destination, features a curated selection of high-end brands including Bvlgari, CELINE, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co., and more to Cebu’s elite.
