The Senate Committee on Women, Family, and Gender Relations formally requested Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 159 to allow detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy to appear at a hearing scheduled on October 23.

In a letter dated Oct. 14, panel chair Senator Risa Hontiveros explained to Judge Elma Rafallo Lingan about the need to have Quiboloy present at the hearing.

This is in relation to her privilege speech on December 11 and Senate Resolution No. 884, both seeking to investigate sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated by the pastor.

Along with Quiboloy, five of the pastor’s co-accused have also been summoned, namely Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Pauline Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes.

On September 8, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader, who managed to evade arrest inside his church’s sprawling compound in Davao City for two weeks, surrendered himself to military intelligence officers who subsequently turned him over to police authorities.

Quiboloy and four of his co-accused were transferred to Pasig City Jail on September 13.
