President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said yesterday he was dismayed and felt deceived when Vice President Sara Duterte said they were never friends.
“I don’t know anymore. I’m not quite sure I understand. I’m a little dismayed to hear that she doesn’t think that we are friends,” Marcos told reporters at the sidelines of the ASEAN summit..
”I always thought that we were, but maybe I was deceived.”
Duterte had said she was never friends with Marcos, but has close ties with his sister, Senator Imee Marcos.
In an interview at the House of Representatives in September, the Vice President said she would “never again” team up with the Marcoses following their falling out.
“We only talked during the (presidential) campaign,” she said. Duterte has accused the President’s allies in the House of mounting a “political attack” to derail her possible 2028 presidential bid.
Meanwhile, the President said it would be “unfair” to assign the Vice President as the government’s caretaker whenever he is out of the country as she is “not part of the administration anymore.”
“She’s still in government but she left the administration,” the President told reporters.
“She’s not part of the day-to-day running of what we are doing so it would be unfair to ask her now, to impose that duty on her since that’s not part of her work now,” he said.
