MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Judge Gener Gito, who dismissed the third and last illegal drugs-related case of former senator Leila de Lima, as an associate justice of the Sandiganbayan.
Joining Gito is Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge J. Ermin Ernest Louie Miguel.
Their appointment letters were signed by the President on October 8.
Gito will replace Oscar Herrera Jr. who has retired.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin transmitted their appointment papers to the Office of the Chief Justice on October 9.
