(UPDATES) THE Sandiganbayan’s Third Division has reset the arraignment and pre-trial of former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and former city councilor Plaridel Nava to November 22, after their camp filed a motion to quash on Thursday.

Mabilog was charged with violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, in 2018 due to an alleged towing service agreement that was signed when he was still mayor in 2015.

The Ombudsman ruled that there was probable cause to the case and ordered his perpetual disqualification from public office.

During the hearing on Friday, Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang ordered the prosecution to comment on the Mabilog camp’s motion until October 18, after which the division will decide on the matter before the arraignment.

Mabilog did not answer any queries from reporters after the hearing.

Earlier, Mabilog posted a P90,000 bail for his temporary freedom due to the case.

He was not able to post bail for his case due to being tagged as a narco-politician by former president Rodrigo Duterte, which pushed him to flee abroad as he believed he was in danger.

During his appearance at the House Quad Committee on September 19, Mabilog said that he was forced to leave his sworn duty as Iloilo City mayor because of fears for his safety.
