Mapua University, which has won back-to-back games since the NCAA Season 100 second round started, will take on a Colegio de San Juan de Letran squad on Friday, 2:30 p.m., at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Back in the first round, Mapua defeted Letran, 77-62.

This time around, however, the Knights will play without one of its top players in Jimboy Estrada as the latter was suspended after being ejected during their match against the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

Letran appealed Estrada’s suspension but was eventually denied.

Despite this, Knights head coach Allen Ricardo said they will still try their best as they also need to catch up in the standings.

“We’ll try to give our best effort sa upcoming game vs Mapua at sa mga succeeding [games]. Hopefully… sa seven games, at least makalima ka o anim, medyo siguro may onting liwanag sa no. 4 spot,” Ricardo said.

Letran is currently sharing the fourth spot with Lyceum of the Philippines University with identical 6-5 win-loss cards.

The Cardinals, who have won their last two games against Jose Rizal University and Emilio Aguinaldo College, are also taking it one game at a time as the tournament heats up.

“Trabaho lang ulit. Ipahinga ang legs ng mga bata. One game at a time. [Sa] Friday, Letran muna,” Cardinals head coach Randy Alcantara said.

Prior to the faceoff of the two Intramuros-based squads, San Beda University will go against Perpetual.

The Red Lions (7-4) fell to Lyceum of the Philippines University last Tuesday after winning four straight games, while the ALTAs (5-6) also arrested their own four-game losing skid as they toppled the Knights.

In the first round, San Beda defeated Perpetual, 63-62.

Cousin coaches Yuri Escueta and Olsen Racela, together with their respective squads, will battle at 11:00 a.m.
