Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday said she would forgive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his allies should they apologize for the death of a Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) member in August when the Davao police served an arrest warrant on detained televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.
To recall, the Police Regional Office 11 said a male KOJC member passed away due to a heart attack while the police were serving an arrest warrant against Quiboloy at the KOJC compound in Buhangin District, Davao City.
“Magkaayos kami? Magkaayos kaming lahat? Sige, mag-sorry sila doon sa pamilya nu’ng namatay sa Davao City during the kaguluhan sa loob ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ. May namatay do’n. Mag-sorry sila sa lahat ng tinear gas nila, pinpukpok nila, at binugbog nila sa Tamayong at sa KOJC,” Duterte said in an ambush interview, referring to Barangay Tamayong in Davao City where the KOJC’s Glory Mountain is located.
(Can we still reconcile? Alright, apologize first to the family of the man who died in Davao City during the commotion in KOJC. Someone died during that operation. They should apologize to everyone they threw tear gas on and to those they beat in Tamayong and KOJC.)
The Vice President, whose family has been a long-time ally of Quiboloy, also sought an apology for people who were troubled by the hearings at the House of Representatives Quad Committee.
“Mag-sorry sila sa lahat ng hindi nakakatulog ngayon kasi pinapatawag nila paulit-ulit diyan sa House of Representatives. Hindi lang sorry na, ‘Oh, sorry ah.’ Hindi. Pangalanan niyo lahat, mag-sorry kayo sa kanila,” she said.
(They should apologize to everyone who can’t sleep today because they are repeatedly being called at the House of Representatives. It’s not just simply saying sorry. They should name everyone and apologize to them.)
“Pag-isipan ko kung papatawarin ko kayo. Pag-iisipan ko palang ‘yun ah,” she added.
(Then I will think about whether or not I will forgive you. I’ll just start thinking about it.)
Duterte also said the same when it comes to possibly fixing her relationship with Marcos, who was her running mate during the 2022 elections.
“Sabi ko nga, mag-sorry sila doon sa lahat. Pag-iisipan ko,” she said.
(As I’ve said, they should apologize first. I’ll think about it.)
One of Duterte’s latest tirades against the President happened last Friday, when she accused Marcos of not knowing how to rule a country. She also said that she has a list of the impeachable offenses done by the Chief Executive.
