MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has appointed lawyer and businessman Hilario Bringas Paredes as chairman of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin swore in Paredes yesterday.
Paredes replaced Thompson Lantion, a retired police general who was appointed by Marcos to the BCDA in September.
Prior to his appointment, Paredes was a member of the BCDA board of directors.
He was also a member of the board of directors of the North Luzon Railways.
He founded the Paredes Law Group on June 15, 2006.
Paredes is also the chairman and president of the Asian Center for Legal Excellence Inc.
Created in 1992, the BCDA is mandated to transform former US military bases into alternative productive civilian use.
