PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved the Department of Health’s (DoH) flagship program to rebuild a resilient and responsive health care system in the country.
The President, who chairs the National Economic and Development Authority Board, gave the green light to the project during the 21st NEDA Board meeting in Malacañang on Wednesday.
Dubbed as the “Philippines: Health System Resilience Project, Phase 1,” the program seeks to enhance health emergency prevention, preparedness, and response in vulnerable areas in the country.

The President said the P27.921-billion project will serve as an “application of lessons learned during the pandemic.”
“This is great because it is specific to the Philippines,” Marcos told Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, who presented the project during the meeting.
The President said the program would rebuild a resilient health system, supporting the vision outlined in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. It will also prioritize areas in the country with poor access to health care. The health department has already identified 17 provinces for the project’s pilot run.
