MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will raise the South China Sea dispute and assert Manila’s sovereignty over its territorial waters when he joins the 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic next week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.

During a pre-departure briefing in Malacañang, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu said Marcos was expected to discuss with fellow world leaders the recent developments in the South China Sea during the Asean summit from October 8 to 11.
