MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City will continue being the “City of Stars” as Mayor Joy Belmonte lined up future projects for the showbiz industry.

According to a Pilipino Star Ngayon report, Belmonte said the city will soon become known as the “Creative City of Films.”

“Yes, talaga namang hindi ‘yan mawawala because we are proud to be called the ‘City of Stars.’ And in fact, marami kaming plano para palaganapin pa ‘yung reputasyon namin na ‘yun,” Belmonte said.

“Alam naman natin na may mga plano tayo to become the ‘Creative City of Films,’ sana. We are also collaborating with Mowelfund to achieve this goal. Actually, meron nang building, ‘yung tinatawag na Museo Ng Pelikulang Pilipino. So that is another one of our plans.

“So, ‘yung QCinema tuloy pa rin sa November at pinalaki pa. QCinema tuloy ‘yan sa November for our… 12-year na yata. And we continue to support the industry. Kaya natuwa naman ako. At ‘yung industry naman is very supportive din sa atin dito.”

Belmonte said that it’s an honor for the city to host the museum in Quezon City.

“So this is under the partnership with the Mowelfund. So kausap namin si Tita Boots (Anson Roa). And nagulat nga si Tita Boots kasi maliit lang na lugar ang hinihingi niya pero ‘yung malaking Museo na ‘yung binigay ko sa kanya because sabi ko kailangan i-own natin ‘yung moniker na ‘City of Stars.’

“And we really have to make it also the destination for everyone who is interested to support the movie industry. Na kung gusto nila anything to do with movies, dapat sa Quezon City kumpletos-rekados na tayo.”

Belmonte also said that the council will pass an ordinance to make it easier for filmmakers to shoot in Quezon City.

“So one of the latest that we are doing as well is we’re passing an ordinance sa tulong at suporta ng Sangguniang Panlungsod. One-stop shop para sa lahat ng gustong gumawa ng pelikula. Hindi na sila mahihirapan, hindi na iba-iba ‘yung kausap, hindi na rin sila iba-iba ‘yung binabayaran. May resibo talaga at may mag-aalalay maghanap ng mga site at alalayan talaga ‘yung mga movie makers natin sa paggawa ng pelikula dito sa Quezon City,” she said.
