MANILA, Philippines — Vantage Energy Solutions and Management Inc., an affiliate of tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan’s Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), is energizing five facilities of Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI).

The companies recently signed a supply contract covering the food and beverage giant’s manufacturing plants in Luzon and the Visayas.

Financial details of the deal and the contract period were not immediately available.

PCPPI is the exclusive manufacturer of Pepsi-Cola products in the country and a global leader in the convenient food and beverage industry.

PCPPI president and CEO Phyo Phyu Noe said the strategic deal is aligned with “PCPPI’s transformation,” enabling future-proofed operations for the company’s manufacturing plants.

“We are committed to ensuring energy efficiency across our locations, as this brings value to our overall operations and to the communities we serve,” Noe said at the deal’s ceremonial signing.

Vantage Energy, for its part, said both companies are dedicated to boosting the economy by offering job opportunities to Filipinos and fostering environmental sustainability through responsible business operations.

“This collaboration extends past the framework of our contract. Together with PCPPI, we are committed to driving innovation and advancing sustainable practices,” Vantage Energy president Ernesto Cabral said.

A member of the retail supply sector since 2017, Vantage Energy serves contestable customers across the country by providing competitive power supply and customized energy solutions.

Contestable customers are large electricity end users who can freely choose their power suppliers under the retail competition and open access (RCOA) program.

Regulated by the Energy Regulatory Commission, RCOA is a framework designed to promote competition in the retail electricity market, allowing power end-users to choose their electricity providers.

Under the prevailing threshold, only consumers with an average monthly peak demand of at least 500 kilowatts for the preceding 12 months are eligible to contract with any authorized electricity supplier on a voluntary basis.
