OPERATING under CNC’s KCS service, the CMA CGM Passion provides direct sailings between South China and the Philippines. The weekly service connects key ports, including Xingang, Dalian, Lianyungang, Qingdao, Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya and Manila. Notably, it offers one of the fastest transit times from Qingdao to Singapore and Indonesia.
“This landmark call reinforces our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of MICT’s (Manila International Container Terminal) operations, which include investing in hybrid rubber-tired gantries that require less fuel and generate cleaner emissions,” said Christian Lozano, MICT’s chief operating officer.
“We hope to handle more green ships as the industry moves toward decarbonization,” Lozano added.

MICT’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint have been recognized by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Port Services Network, which awarded it green port status. Recent initiatives include improved wastewater management, circular economy practices and biodiversity protection.
The CMA CGM Passion stands out as MICT’s largest capacity boxship to date. This capability positions MICT to accommodate the largest vessels entering the Philippines, enhancing the country’s foreign trade capabilities and trade connectivity.
With the CMA CGM Passion, MICT is well-positioned to make the Port of Manila more globally competitive. The arrival of this vessel signifies a step forward in promoting greener shipping practices within the region.
