Nathalie Hart returns to Philippine showbiz following a year-long hiatus which brought many challenges and changes in her life, sadly including her separation from her Australian husband, Brad Robert.
The 32-year-old actress is now balancing life as a single mother to her six-year-old daughter while restarting her career, now as the newest talent under Viva Artist Agency.
In a press conference, Hart opened up about her separation from Robert just a year and two months after their wedding in Australia. According to her, the breakup made her decide to return to the Philippines.
“I got separated. That’s why I suddenly disappeared. Unfortunately, we didn’t work out. That’s why I was gone last year. Then I thought, since things didn’t work out, I might as well return to the Philippines and do something new. And that’s why I’m back,” Hart revealed.
“I’m also doing a lot of work right now. Then, I got an offer from Viva. They were interested in signing me. So, I’m super happy that I got this opportunity to work with them and that they’re interested in me. So, yeah, I’m just excited,” she added.
Hart furthered that they are now in the process of divorce but are “moving forward.”
“It’s embarrassing. I mean, it’s not something you just talk about or share with everyone. The paperwork is starting and all that. He’s there, and I’ve been here for a couple of months now so I thought, it’s okay to talk about it now. But when it first happened, I wasn’t interested [to talk about it] at all. Now, both of us are moving forward. I just wish we could find happiness for ourselves,” she said.
When asked about the judgment that often comes with a public separation, Hart was honest in saying, “At first, you feel ashamed, worried that people will judge you. They’ll say you failed the first time, and now you’ve failed again. But then, I realized, who cares? It’s my life. As long as I’m happy and doing something meaningful, that’s all that matters.”
Now, being a mother has shifted Hart’s perspective on life and work.
“Motherhood really changed me. Before, I didn’t care much about anything, but now I plan everything ahead. I used to stay out until four or five in the morning. Now, if I go out, I need to be home by midnight because I have to wake up at 7 a.m. the next day to take care of my daughter. Life has completely changed. You can do whatever you want when you’re single, but once you become a mom, your priorities shift,” she pointed out.
And now that Hart is back in the spotlight under the care of Viva, she is focused on her three upcoming films.
One of these films is “Isla Babuyan,” starring Jameson Blake and Geraldine Jennings, a newcomer who was also managed by her former long-time manager, Leo Dominguez, who recently passed away.
“Tito Leo produced that film. It’s a sexy film, possibly the last sexy role I’ll do,” pointed out Hart.
“I think it’s time to explore more as an actress. The roles I have now aren’t as sexy as before. Isla Babuyan might be the last. I’m now focusing more on the acting piece, the character, not just the looks,” she added.
In addition to Isla Babuyan, Hart will star in “Hibla,” a comedy featuring Julian Trono and Ella Cruz distributed by Viva, where she will play the kontrabida.
Finally, Hart is preparing for a Filipino-Indian collaboration. The psychological thriller, set to be filmed in India in November, will feature an all-Indian cast, with Hart being the sole Filipino actress.
“I’m just excited, I’m stressed, I’m nervous. I had to change my look, dye my hair black, and I’m learning the language. My role there is a Filipino artist that moved back to India because my parents are Indians,” she shared.
Apart from acting, Hart will also mark her first venture into film production.
“Right now, with the Indian film, we have an Indian counterpart. And then I decided, I also wanted to produce. I said, if I’m going to work in the production, I want it to be big and beautiful. So this year, that’s the change that happened to me. Not only being an actress, now I’m also co-producing in some projects,” she said.
Hart shared that working behind the scenes has given her a new perspective on the industry.
“It’s stressful. I didn’t expect that. Sometimes, you just cry because people think working in the industry is easy but they don’t understand that you have to handle a lot of people and then pre-production, that’s the hardest thing especially for us, because we’re shooting in a different country so we have to do all the permits the right way,” Hart added.
Indeed, with her comeback in full swing, Hart is committed to embrace her renewed passion for showbiz.
“I have a daughter. I’m focusing on my career, making money, and being happy. If love happens again, great. If not, it’s fine. I’m content where I am,” Hart finally said.
