NDRRMC: Death toll up to 145, missing at 37 from ‘Kristine’

MANILA, Philippines — The number of fatalities from Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” reported to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) increased to 145.

According to its situation report, the NDRRMC also noted that there were 37 people missing, while 115 others were injured.

Some 7,033,922 people or 1,788,630 families across 17 regions had been affected.

Of the number, the majority comes from Bicol with 2,343,175. This is followed by Central Luzon with 1,061,766 and Calabarzon with 752,793.

Of the affected population, the NDRRMC said 333,951 people were inside evacuation centers while 427,059 persons (91,307 families) were taking shelter in other places.

Some 111,177 houses were damaged — 104,740 partially and 6,437 totally.

Damage to agriculture, infrastructure and irrigation was pegged at P2.8 billion, P3.6 billion and P32 million respectively.
