The Philippine Army on Thursday installed Chief Master Sergeant Marvin Jurane as the 20th Sergeant Major of the Philippine Army.
Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido presided over the ceremony, during which the outgoing PA Sergeant Major, Chief Master Sergeant (CMS) Rogelio P. Caacbay, passed the Office of the Army Sergeant Major (OASM) mace to his successor.
Jurane previously served as the Sergeant Major of the 2nd Infantry Division.
The Army Sergeant Major is a personal staff member of the Army Commanding General, tasked with overseeing the Enlisted Personnel Corps. This role includes pursuing the professionalization of troops while addressing their morale, welfare, and discipline.
“To our newly appointed Army Sergeant Major, I am confident that you will continue to deliver outstanding service to our enlisted personnel. Stay engaged and take the lead in developing programs that address the challenges of our times,” Lt. Gen. Galido remarked during his speech.
