Nikko Aguilar, a fourth-year veteran guard, has never started a game for San Sebastian College-Recoletos in NCAA Season 100.
Still, that doesn’t stop the 5-foot-10 from showing his leadership capability for the Stags.
“Lahat kaming beterano pwedeng tumayo as a leader, especially kami nina Gabat na off the bench, kami nakakakita para at least pagpasok namin, doon na namin itatama ‘yung ibang mali na ginagawa nila.”
That was on full display during his clutch performance in their 87-85 escape against Jose Rizal University on Wednesday, burying the final four points for the Stags as they halted a heartbreaking eight-game losing streak.
He first buried a stepback three-pointer to send San Sebastian to an 86-83 cushion before his split from the line had them leading by two, 87-85, in the final 7.7 seconds.
Aguilar ended up with 13 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc, providing the support to their starters Paeng Are and Raymart Escobido who finished with 28 and 17 markers apiece.
