The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) highlighted the significant role of youth in peacebuilding and education within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during an event marking the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).

Titled “KaPEACEtahan sa Paaralan sa BARMM,” this peace event took place at Notre Dame University in Cotabato City.

Key activities included an essay writing contest, public discussions on political engagement, and voter education aimed at young and first-time voters.

Speakers emphasized that peace is a collective endeavor and that education is vital for empowering the Bangsamoro people.

OPAPRU Undersecretary Cesar Yano, representing Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., referenced American philosopher Benjamin Franklin’s wisdom: “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

“Investing in the education of the next generation is the best asset for building a brighter Bangsamoro. It is only through education and a better-informed citizenry that we can secure an empowered Bangsamoro society true to the aspirations for respect, development, and just peace,” he said.

The event reflected on the progress achieved in the peace process and urged youth to continue advocating for sustainable peace and development in the region.
