PAGASA: 2 gates at Magat Dam remain open

Two gates at Magat Dam, which is located between Ifugao and Isabela, have continued releasing water on Tuesday morning, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

As of 8 a.m., PAGASA said that Magat Dam’s two gates were open at 3.0 meters, releasing 561 cubic meters per second (CMS). On Monday, the same number of gates were also open at 4.0 meters, releasing 796 CMS. 

Magat Dam currently has 188.62 meters of reservoir water level (RWL), slightly lower than Monday’s 189.52 RWL. It has a 193-meter normal high water level (NHWL). 

Meanwhile, PAGASA said that all gates were already closed at Binga Dam and Ambuklao Dam which are both in Benguet Province. 

The gates in Binga Dam were all shut as of 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Two of its gates were also previously open at 0.8 meters. 

The dam’s RWL increased slightly from 574.20 meters to 574.21 meters, compared to its 575-meter NHWL.

Gates at Ambuklao Dam, on the other hand, were closed as of 8:30 a.m. on Monday. One of its gates was open earlier at 0.5 meters.

Its RWL is currently at 750.93 meters, up from Monday’s 750.92 meters. It also has a 752-meter NHWL.
