Work in government offices and classes at all levels in Luzon remain suspended on Friday, October 25, due to the inclement weather brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, Malacañang said.

The announcement was made on Thursday evening by the Office of the Executive Secretary.

“Due to the raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Nos. 1, 2, and 3 in most areas of Luzon in view of the persistent intense rainfall and strong winds brought about by Severe Tropical Storm ‘Kristine,’ to further aid in the rescue, relief, and recovery efforts of the government, and upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council,” the OES said in a statement.

However, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster response, and other vital services were directed to continue their operations and render necessary services.

“The localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other areas may be implemented by their respective local chief executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules, and regulations,” it added.

Kristine, the 11th storm to enter the country, is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
