MANILA, Philippines — The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), chaired by President Marcos, has allied with the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) – a coalition supported by prominent political families in Mindanao, Malacañang said yesterday.

The alliance was announced on Oct. 6 at the PFP general assembly in Davao City, the office of Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr. posted on Facebook.

Lagdameo is the national vice chairman and executive vice president of PFP, which carried Marcos’ presidential bid in 2022.

Forging the alliance signifies an “important shift” in the Bangsamoro region’s political scene ahead of the 2025 elections, Lagdameo said.

“The coalition brings together two major political entities, joining the administration’s vision of progress, development and lasting peace in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte,” he said.

The alliance also enjoys the support of local political families such as the Midtimbangs, Masturas, Sinsuats, Mangudadatus and Ampatuans, Lagdameo noted.

Other politicians who support the coalition include Bangsamoro Chief Minister and Moro Islamic Liberation Front chairman Ahod Ebrahim, Maguindanao del Norte Gov. Abdulraof Macacua, Bai Sandra Sema and former Maguindanao governor Ishmael Mangudadatu, Lagdameo said.

Tucao Mastura has been selected as the coalition’s candidate for governor of Maguindanao del Norte, while Datu Ali Midtimbang Sr. will run for governor of Maguindanao del Sur.

The alliance is also backing the candidacy of Mangudadatu, who is seeking a congressional seat in Maguindanao del Sur.

“With a focus on critical issues such as governance, peace building, efficient delivery of services and economic development, the PFP-UBJP alliance is strategically positioned to address long-standing concerns and champion essential reforms aimed at improving the lives of the Bangsamoro people,” Lagdameo said.

The PFP has also formed alliances with the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, Nationalist People’s Coalition, National Unity Party and Nacionalista Party.

The parties constitute the administration coalition Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
