A total of 70 red members were neutralized, and over 80 firearms were seized by the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4ID) during the third quarter of 2024.
According to LtCol. Francisco Garello, Chief of the 4ID Division Public Affairs Office, the operation resulted in the surrender of significant figures involved in red operations.
Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, reported that from July to September 2024, his troops engaged in 24 encounters with the CPP New People’s Army (NPA). These engagements led to the neutralization of 70 terrorists and the recovery of 88 firearms.
A notable surrender was that of Meni Rose Calipay De Castro, a medic for the NPA, who yielded to the military in July.
Additionally, two significant operations conducted by the 401st Infantry Brigade in September resulted in the capture of ten firearms and the deaths of two NPA members. This prompted 13 others to surrender along with 28 firearms.
Cuerpo highlighted these efforts as part of a strategy to resolve conflict through dialogue, aiming to complete the mission by year-end. He commended his troops for their successful operations.
