PHILIPPINE National Oil Co. (PNOC) on Monday signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) for the installation of a solar rooftop photovoltaic system at the latter’s NCR Regional Training Center in Taguig.
PNOC said that this was part of an initiative to supply government agencies with renewable energy.
“With regards to this project, we have had discussions and links with several government agencies already,” PNOC President Oliver Butalid said.
“These include three water districts, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, National Food Authority, National Irrigation Administration, National Economic and Development Authority, and so much more,” he added.
“We started our first MoA a month ago, and we hope to continue building from there. By the end of this year, we will have around 1 megawatt (MW) in terms of these projects, but by next year, we are targeting to set up around 20 MW, if conditions are favorable.”
This solar rooftop system will have a capacity of 80 kilowatt-peak (80 kWp) and will cost P4.6 million. Installation is scheduled to start by December, and the system is expected to be completed in January 2025.
“[W]e will start with the training complex here in Taguig and then advocate this to our offices in the provinces, specifically our other training centers,” Tesda training center director Gilbert Castro said.
