MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is eager to work with new Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
PNP public information officer Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said they welcome Remulla’s appointment as Interior secretary.
“The PNP would like to commit our full support to him like we did to previous SILGs (secretaries of the interior and local government),” Fajardo said at a news briefing.
With his experience as governor of Cavite, Fajardo said Remulla will bring more to the table as head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“We are pretty sure whatever experience he garnered as a local chief executive in the province, he’ll use this (in leading the department),” she said.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez also lauded the appointment of Remulla as the new Interior chief.
“We are happy with Gov. Jonvic’s appointment as DILG secretary. Being a veteran local official, he knows how local government units (LGUs) operate in terms of supervision, maintaining peace and order and security,” Romualdez said.
He noted that Remulla’s hands-on experience in managing one of the largest and most progressive provinces in the country equips him with the skills and insights needed to lead the DILG.
“Gov. Jonvic’s deep understanding of local issues, combined with his dedication to public service, will greatly benefit our LGUs nationwide. He knows what it takes to elevate local governance and to create a safe and secure environment for all Filipinos,” he added. — Delon Porcalla
