SAGIP party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta on Tuesday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator for the 2025 midterm elections.
If elected, Marcoleta said he wants to focus on the oversight function of Congress.
An independent candidate, Marcoleta said one of the things he wants to focus on is the implementation of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA).
When asked if he believes in the integrity of the election, Marcoleta said he does not want to “fight two battles at the same time.”
“Ang lahat po ng pangyayari ay may kanya-kanyang panahon (All thing happen at the right time),” he said.
Marcoleta earlier linked Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairperson George Erwin Garcia to offshore accounts amounting to about P1 billion, which Garcia has denied.
“Wala po akong allegation sa Comelec officials. Ang aking kinu-question initially ay yung sytema at yung makina na maaring gamitin sa susunod na election,” Marcoleta said.
(I have no allegations against Comelec officials. What I’m questioning is the system and machines that will be used in the next elections.)
In 2022, Marcoleta ran for senator under PDP-Laban but withdrew later on. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
