The Senate has announced the suspension of work on Thursday due to the expected heavy rainfall from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
In an advisory, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. said Senate President “Chiz” Escudero ordered the suspension of work at the Senate in view of the weather advisory from state weather bureau PAGASA.
“However, the Deputy Secretary for Legislation is directed to assign personnel who shall report for work to receive copies of the General Appropriations Bill which will be transmitted by the House of Representatives to the Senate later today,” Bantug said.
“Likewise, personnel of the OSAA and the MGSB who follow a shifting schedule are not covered by the work suspension,” he added.
Metro Manila is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2, according to PAGASA’s 5 a.m. bulletin.
Kristine was last spotted in the vicinity of Tumauini, Isabela packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
The severe tropical storm was moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
