Senator Francis Tolentino on Tuesday morning filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Law Department Offsite Working Area in Manila City as he seeks reelection in the 2025 midterm polls.
Tolentino, who currently serves as Senate Majority Leader, is running under the banner of the Marcos administration’s Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas.
Asked what can be expected of him should he win in the next elections, Tolentino said, “Most probably, we’ll try to harvest the gains of the current administration relative to economic recovery and some focus on foreign relations and defense matters as well.”
“So it’s more of continuing what I’ve been doing right now, as well as helping the current administration achieve its aims, especially in uplifting the lives of the soon to emerge 14% new middle class in addition to the existing middle class that we have now,” he added.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced the senatorial slate of the administration for the 2025 midterm elections, which includes Tolentino.
Several supporters of the incumbent senator trooped outside of Manila Hotel while Tolentino was filing his COC.
