The Multi-Media Press Society of the Philippines, Inc. (MMPRESS) successfully staged its “Kickoff and Appreciation Night” on Sept. 27 at the Dengcar Theater of the Mowelfund Film Institute in Quezon City.
This event marked the first project under the group’s rebranding, previously known as the Entertainment Press Society of the Philippines (ENPRESS), aimed at adapting to the evolving landscape of entertainment reporting and writing.
The honorees were recognized in three categories: “MMPRESS Heroes,” “Entertainment Stalwarts,” and “Trailblazing Leaders.”
Among the honorees were showbiz A-lister Dingdong Dantes, former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, MTRCB Chairperson Diorella “Lala” Sotto-Antonio, respected editor-writer Jo-Ann Maglipon, film producer Joji Alonso, GMA showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago, renowned talent manager Perry Lansigan, director Mike Tuviera (represented by Jojo Oconer), and revered actress and industry icon Boots Anson-Roa.
Each honoree expressed gratitude to MMPRESS for acknowledging their contributions to the entertainment industry.
The event featured an invocation by GMA Sparkle artist Liana Castillo, followed by performances from the upcoming boy group 1621 BC and singer Pappel. Popular radio and TV personality Mr. Fu, a member of MMPRESS, hosted the event.
MMPRESS Chairperson Jun Nardo, in his keynote speech, thanked the honorees, fans, MMPRESS members, and sponsors for making the event possible. He assured that this was just the beginning of many more initiatives from the group.
Some honorees who were unable to attend due to prior commitments also expressed their appreciation. These included actor-politician Alfred Vargas, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, beauty magnate Rhea Anicoche-Tan, TV executive Malou Choa-Fagar, TV host Boy Abunda, former Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno, radio personality and talent manager Noel Ferrer, former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., showbiz writer and talent manager Lolit Solis, columnist Ronald Constantino, GMA executive Annette Gozon-Valdes, ABS-CBN executive Cory Vidanes, Viva head Vic Del Rosario, Jr., film producer Guido Zaballero, Regal Films’ Roselle Monteverde, and MMDA Acting Chairperson Attorney Romando Artes.
