Wearing a pair of sunglasses is one of the easiest ways to turn one’s simple outfit to a cool getup that is worthy of praise. From classic narrow frames that give a touch of sleekness and modernity to a casual look to a pair of standout aviators for an eye-catching style, these spectacles not only protect one’s eyes from the sun but also help in amplifying their outfit for the day.
With the season leading to more eyewear trends coming about, the SM Store has finally unveiled its new line of fashionable specs with the launch of its Fall/Winter 2024 Collection at the Sunglass Festival in SM Makati.
Together with an installation filled with Instagram-worthy sights, the festival features a wide array of displays featuring new and trendy sunglasses from world-class brands.
Eyewear distributor House of Branded Lifestyle Inc. (HOBLI) Marketing Head Mini Paul told Manila Standard Life how the festival was something the brand had conceptualized specially for SM Supermalls.
“It’s a pretty interesting concept because all brands come up with new collections independently. But this is an opportunity to bring it all together so that we can work in it one shot and see what are the newest available [piece] in all possible sunglasses brands,” said Paul.
The festival allows customers to look through the offerings of global brands like iconic aviators and wayfarers from Ray-Ban, bold and futuristic eyewear pieces from Balenciaga, minimalist and contemporary specs from Bottega Veneta, luxurious and oversized frames from Gucci, iconic and innovative eyewear from Porsche Design, daring and geometric frames from Prada, Parisian-inspired spectacles from Saint Laurent, and trendy eyepieces with a lot of personality from Guess.
While the Sunglass Festival was held solely in SM Makati, Paul expressed her desire to have the festival held in other branches of the SM Store nationwide.
“I would love to do this in all SMs but I generally do it in coordination with the SM Group and they tell me which one to do it in. Next year I hope to do it in a different location so that I can cater to a different audience,” said Paul.
The festival also saw the arrival of Porsche Design in the Philippines, with its launch featuring its collection of luxurious and innovative frames which have utilized parts from the iconic car brand like hinges and tire rims.
For the entirety of its run, customers will be able to get a chance to win a trip to Boracay with every purchase made at the festival along with other fun prizes like an RB leather case, a Gucci tote bag, a Balenciaga mini sling bag, a Guess tote bag, and an Elle or Espirit eyewear.
Apart from the displays of the new eyewear pieces from the brands, the festival also features various interactive installations such as the Magic Mirror, the interactive Claw Machine, a PhotoAutomat, a TikTok Corner, and a race-car driving simulator.
The Sunglass Festival runs until Oct. 31 at the 2nd Level Concourse of SM Makati.
