MANILA, Philippines — The Office of Civil Defense on Sunday said that the death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has climbed to 85.
OCD Administrator Ariel Nepomuceno said in a radio interview that they are validating the reported deaths.
“Reports are coming in, from 81 the death toll has risen to 85,” Nepomuceno said in a radio interview.
Nepomuceno said they expect the number of fatalities and injuries to further increase.
He said most of the fatalities died from landslides and floods.
The Department of Public Works and Highways on Saturday said 21 national roads remain closed.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who visited Camarines Sur said that relief efforts were hampered by floods that have yet to recede.
